Mining & Quarry
Mines and quarries can be extremely dangerous places to work. It is imperative that you have a proper safety program in place. The safety professionals at CCI are well versed in both OSHA and MSHA standards and can help you comply with the standards' criteria. The most cited violation last year in the mining and quarry industries was guarding of moving machine parts. This could include conveyor belts, crushers, and screens to name a few. Through regular Onsite Safety Inspection (including, but not limited to machinery), CCI can make you aware of any hazards that are not meeting the standards required by OSHA or MSHA.
Weekly Toolbox Safety Training meetings will regularly remind your employees and make them more aware of proper safety practices. Confined Space Programs and trainings can be especially important to miners. CCI would be happy to assist you with these programs.
Dust and airborne chemical exposure, such as crystalline silica, is a big problem in both the mining and quarry industries. CCI will come to your place of work to analyze conditions and provide a Respiratory Protection Program as well as respirator fit testing. Crushers can be extremely loud pieces of machinery. CCI can supply you with a Hearing Conservation Program that will determine noise levels to your employees and make recommendations on how best to shield them from that danger.
A proper Hazard Communication Program is necessary for your company. If you do not have one in place or are dissatisfied with what you do have, call CCI to have us set up a thorough program for you. Sites that use explosives may have to report to the Department of Homeland Security. CCI can create a Top Screen/Chemical Security Assessment Tool report that can be submitted to the Department.
